GRAND SEIKO ROADSHOW RETURNS TO ARIZONA FINE TIME ON 12/05/2014!

It’s that time of year and we invite you to join us as we host Arizona Fine Time’s 5th annual Grand Seiko Roadshow!  Starting back in 2008, when Grand Seiko was still exclusive to the Japanese market, we hosted our first Roadshow with Seiko featuring Ms. Chitose Masuda from Shinshu watch studio in Japan, who was brought to our store to assemble Seiko’s innovative Spring Drive movement in front of our eyes for the very first time.  With all the amazement and incredible response we had, a new trend developed after Grand Seiko was released, bringing a Grand Seiko Roadshow to our store every year since it launched in 2010.  We first met Mr. Junya Kamijo who not only assembled a 9R65 caliber, but was one of the first to introduce us to the SBGA011 Snowflake.  Then, in 2011 Mr. Hideo Fukai, who assembled the 416 part 9R86 Spring Drive Chronograph GMT.  The following year, we met our first Hi-Beat watchmaker from Shizuku-Ishi watch studio, Mr. Tsutomu Ito who assembled the 9S85.  Last year we were revisited by Mr. Kamijo, who assembled the 9R86, while wearing his SBGC003.

This year we invite you to meet a very special guest, Mr. Ikukiyo Komatsu, a master Spring Drive watchmaker from Shinshu studio in Shiojiri Japan.  Mr. Komatsu is a winner of the World’s Skills Competition for his work with Spring Drive.  I would like to share an interesting article from Komatsu from this years Basel Brand Book, discussing Spring Drive and Mr. Komatsu’s thoughts…

G-Shock Launch Event In NY Featuring MT-G, GPW1000, And MR-G MRG-1000 Introduced To The USA

Trump Soho NY

Last week I had the distinct honor and pleasure of going to New York for the national release of the latest and greatest from Casio G-Shock.  The event was held at the top of Trump Soho, and the image above is the beautiful view we had at the top.

G-Shock Store Soho

The first stop on my visit was to the G-Shock store in Soho, where I met up with our friend Michael Eckhaus, the Director of Sales for Casio’s watch division.  Coincidentally, the founder, father and creator of G-Shock himself, Mr. Kikuo Ibe was at the store signing autographs and taking pictures with some of his biggest fans.  It was truly an honor to meet him.

Mr. Kikuo Ibe founder of G-Shock

The upstairs of the Soho store is where we met Mr. Ibe which was not just in any room, but practically a museum of some of the great models of G-Shock ranging back from the early 90’s.  People were standing in line to meet Mr. Ibe, even a couple of which got his autograph on their arms, and went right away to go get it tattooed.  Their fan base is some of the greatest out there, with a strong dedication to the world of G-Shock.

Mr. Kikuo Ibe founder of G-Shock autograph

We even got ourselves a nice autograph for the store which is now on display.  Mr. Ibe proved himself to be an extremely nice guy, and very funny to boot!  The following he has created for the G-Shock brand is something like I have never seen, ranging from people who strictly collect G-Shock for colors, limited editions, and the funkiest pieces they can create, all the way up to avid collectors of high-end timepieces.  The range of people into G-Shock is astonishing.

G-Shock-Event-10

The whole reason I was even there was because of the launch of G-Shock’s newest technology, the new GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor GPW1000.  The technology they crammed into these pieces is overwhelming in a way, but thankfully it’s as intuitive as an iPad, maybe even the Apple Watch (which is still really yet to be determined).  Overall though, The GPW1000 is very easy to use.

DJ VP of Casio USA

The event started and David Johnson (DJ), Vice President of Casio’s watch division started the night and when he did, you could tell he was incredibly passionate about their products.  He’s not the only one, everyone at Casio takes great pride and works so well together, it’s truly impressive.

Mr. Shigenori Itoh President of Casio USA

DJ then introduced Mr. Shigenori Itoh, CEO and President of Casio USA to take the stage.  Mr. Itoh discussed the success of the Metal Twisted (or MT-G) G-Shock’s which he was a huge part in the development of.  Mr. Itoh then introduced Mr. Ibe to speak about the challenges of creating the MT-G.

Mr. Kikuo Ibe founder of G-Shock

I mentioned Mr. Ibe was funny.  The story he told was surrounded by a “little white lie”.  With a team of 8 young designers, Mr. Ibe had motivated them to create what was thought to be impossible…  A metal G-Shock that still maintains the durability of every G they had previously created.  The “small white lie”, Mr . Ibe told his team was that there would be a BIG interview with a world famous magazine after the project was completed.  Of course, he had no idea how he was going to get this interview, but he remained confident it would happen.  He motivated his team, telling them they were the only ones who could do it.  In the end, they got their “famous” interview and Mr. Ibe could wipe the sweat from his brow.  A great story, and the entire speech can be seen in the video below…

AZFTBlogVideoLink

While this video is 30 minutes long, it is very entertaining and very exciting.  This proves the evolution of G-Shock in the watch world.  They have some amazing new products that we know everyone across the globe will love.

G-Shock-Event-5

Another part of the reason I was there, was Casio had asked me to speak at their event along with a couple of other retailers.  My part was to talk about GPS and it’s use in watches today, but most importantly, the expectations of the new GPW1000.  I had a great opportunity to play with the piece prior to the release and learned a lot about it.  You can see our first hands on review of the GPW1000 HERE.

G-Shock MT-G Black Rose Gold Orange MTGS1000BD-4A

The watches unveiled that night were incredibly impressive and expand on G-Shock’s expansion into the luxury market (especially in this country).  They introduced two new versions of Metal Twisted G-Shocks, one with black hard coating, rose gold and orange accents, which will be limited production under model number MTGS1000BD-5A.  See it on our site HERE.

G-Shock MT-G Basel World Special MTGS1000BS

Another piece introduced was the MT-G Basel World Special.  Getting to see it hands on was a treat.  It has a truly unique finishing process utilizing a gold ion plating that is then layered over in black.  Burnishing away the gold, and blending with the black plating that gives it a distressed or vintage look to it that only contributes to its character.  This gives a weatherd bronze type color that expresses the toughness of G-Shock’s as they are worn over the years.  Sadly, this model is limited to only 500 pieces globally, and will be extremely difficult to find.

Casio G-Shock MR-G MRG-G1000 MRGG1000-1A

The new GPW1000 models were also featured during the event, but the big news was at the very end.  For the first time ever, MR-G is making its debut in the US market!  Not only that, but this will feature a MR-G exclusive version of the GPS Atomic Solar Hybrid movement.  This new MRGG1000B-1A will feature a 49mm wide by 16.6mm hardened titanium case and bracelet that also has a DLC (or Diamond Like Carbon) coating.  This will be now the highest priced G to ever touch US soil at a $3,000 retail.  These will become available in limited quantities at the beginning of 2015.  See it on our site HERE.  The crowd was amazed and ooh’s and aahh’s filled the room.  The night came to an end and people relaxed, had a few drinks (including some GPS-tini’s) and chit chatted for a while.  Afterwards, I was lucky enough to spend some time with some of Casio’s team and our friend Ariel Adams from aBlogtoWatch.  Earlier, I brought up the new Apple Watch as Ariel and DJ had a great discussion about smart watches.  While I think all of us there are big Apple fans, the topic of the “smart watch” was something discussed and ended something along the lines of “that’s not a smart watch.  It still needs the phone in order to really do much of anything.  Now this… (as he shows the GPS Hybrid) is a SMART WATCH”.  A totally proven point as it is independently controlled, has tons of functionality , breaks down the Earth to a 2.6 billion piece grid, determines your location through GPS  and is powered by light, not an outlet.  I’ll admit, I was impressed by the Apple Watch, but DJ had an excellent point that I totally agree with.

Ariel got some really impressive pictures of the new G-Shock MR-G MRG-G1000 GPS Atomic Solar Hybrid and a great write up on aBlogtoWatch HERE.

G-Shock-Event-1

Before I knew it the trip was over and I was saying good bye to NYC.  I would sincerely like to thank everyone involved for such an awesome trip and being such a great company to work with.  As I mentioned in the video, all of us here at AZ Fine Time are extremely proud to be a part of the ongoing evolution of G-Shock!  Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Citizen – Baselworld Releases 2014

Citizen Booth Baselworld 2014

Citizen Booth Baselworld 2014

This year, Citizen had some amazing introductions that continue to prove the impressive high quality the brand is capable of.  This was not only the sense received from the product, but also Citizen’s booth, “Compressed Time”.  With the many new intro’s we saw in Basel, this is only the tip of the iceberg, and there is much more to come later this year.  From what we’ve seen and what we know, we present you with Citizen’s Baselworld 2014 debuts…

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

As we know, the Altichron Cirrus is making its way to the US market later this month.  The new limited edition BN5044-01E is far more impressive in person than pictures can ever do justice.  The 3 layer dial uses a textured crystal giving it a complex and incredible depth, making it very 3D, aside from being extremely colorful.

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

The Citizen logo is attached to the underside of the watches’ deeply domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.  The other noticeable difference between this and the core versions of Altichron are the hands utilized.  There are 3 hands for time keeping, but the compass will have an independent blue hand, with the orange, yellow and green hands for your altimeter.  With so much going on with the dial, it is surprisingly legible.

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

Another unique attribute to the Cirrus LE is that the case is not only titanium with DLC and Duratect coating, but also uses a white pearl paint on the case sides.  This pearl paint was achieved by Citizen collaborating with Toyota Motors, making a durable but beautiful “paint job”.

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

Citizen Eco-Drive Altichron Cirrus Limited Edition BN5044-01E

At 51.5mm wide and 18mm thick, the Cirrus is massive in appearance, but comfortable due to its light weight and liquid rubber strap.  The piece retails at $2,650 and as I mentioned, will be available later this month in VERY limited supply.

Citizen Satellite Wave F100

Citizen Satellite Wave F100

The next big introduction is the new Satellite Wave F100 CC2006-53E.  This newly designed timepiece features a new movement that achieves the fastest single satellite connection in 3 seconds, as well as has the thinnest case design of any satellite capable watches at 12.4mm (which is 45.4mm wide).  The new F100 series comes only in the proprietary titanium alloy with Duratect coating, and bears similar design to our beloved brand Attesa.

Citizen Satellite Wave F100

Citizen Satellite Wave F100 CC2006-53E

The multi-faceted design is incredible, with triangular shapes dominating the case design.  They use a combination of different angular brushed finishes as well as mirror polished accents for detail.  The overall design is futuristic and simplistic with a concept of “speed” behind it.  Another intriguing attribute are  the pushers design, which are hollow and is influenced  by the frame of a satellite.

Citizen Satellite Wave F100

Citizen Satellite Wave F100

The dial display is quite simple and legible.  There are now 40 city codes to choose from as opposed to 26, all of which are on the inner bezel.  There is a sub dial between 7:00 and 8:00 that displays day of week, daylight savings adjustment, and power reserve.  The dial’s design is influenced by the solar panels off of a satellite, and will come in black or white.  There is also a limited edition with black dial, blue accents and white rubber strap.  The LE has not been confirmed if it will be available in the US market.  Only 500 pieces will be made.

Citizen Satellite Wave F100 Limited Edition CC2004-08E

Estimated retails are to be around $2,000 for the 2 bracelet variations.  The F100 Delivery is scheduled to be sometime this fall.

Citizen Satellite Wave Second Generation Steel

Citizen Satellite Wave Second Generation Steel

A second generation of Satellite Wave will also be available this year at a new lower price point.  There are 2 variations, with the 1st being a stainless case and bracelet with grey dial and orange accents.  These will feature the same H909 movement as in the models released in 2013.  The steel variation is estimated to be around $1,300 and will have an arabic 12 marker, with the rest of the markers as indexes.

Citizen Satellite Wave Second Generation Titanium

Citizen Satellite Wave Second Generation Titanium

The other model of Gen 2 Waves will have a titanium case and bracelet, taking away a substantial amount of weight.  This piece will have electric green accents and only index markers.  The case and bracelet design on both pieces is semi-similar to the F100 with a multi-faceted design.  The estimated retail on the titanium model should be around $1,700.

Citizen Eco-Drive Pro Master Depth Meter

Citizen Eco-Drive Pro Master Depth Meter

Another impressive intro this year from Citizen is their new take on the Promaster Depth Meter Diver.  The massive case is inspired by a clam shell and has a good heft to it.  The watch has a blue highlighted luminous hand for current depth, as well as a black highlighted luminous hand for the maximum depth you’ve reached.  There is also a power reserve indicator at 9:00 and orange accents for the minute and second-hand.  This model will also have anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal and is estimated to retail for just under $1,000.

Citizen Eco-Drive Navihawk Limited Edition

Citizen Eco-Drive Navihawk Limited Edition

Can anyone say Navihawk Limited Edition?  I have to say, this piece looks awesome, especially with the mesh bracelet.  More details to come.

Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono Time AT

Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono Time AT

There’s a new A-T series labeled as Chrono Time A-T coming our way.  This series will use the same H610 movement that is found in select models of Attesa and is actually hand assembled.  The “Direct Flight” movement has a city code indicator next to the date, and time zone changes are as easy as pulling the crown out one click, and turning to the desired city code.  Model number on the pictured model is BY0100-51H.

Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono Time AT Limited Edition

Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono Time AT Limited Edition

These models will also include a chronograph and alarm, have sapphire glass, and tachymeter bezel.  There’s a few LE models in this line up, one with blue dial, one with rose gold plate and white dial (pictured above), and black and gold-plated with rubber strap.  Be sure to check out all the pics in the gallery at the bottom of the post.

Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph

Citizen Eco-Drive Shadowhawk Chronograph CA4170-51E

There will also be some new Eco-Drive chronograph models added this year.  There are 2 styles of the model pictured above, the Shadowhawk, the stainless steel (CA4170-51E), and also a two-tone model.

Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph

Citizen Eco-Drive Ecosphere Chronograph CA4154-15E

The other series of Eco Drive Chronograph is a much sportier variation utilizing the same paint technology as seen on the Altichron Cirrus but in a different variety of colors.  The model pictured above is CA4154-15E  More to come on these models later in the year.

Citizen Eco-Drive "L" Series

Citizen Eco-Drive “L” Series

Big news in the ladies models for Citizen this year.  The launch of the Citizen “L” Series will be going global, with a premium quality, uniquely designed series of ladies pieces.  All models will have mother of pearl dials in different tones, all inspired by flowers with dew drops.  The diamond models take this inspiration to the next level, with 3 moving diamonds between the 2 different cases of the watch.

Citizen "L" Series Two Tone

Citizen “L” Series Two Tone

The moving diamonds “float”  in the opening between the cases, while there are still diamonds on the dial.

Citizen "L" Series No Diamonds

Citizen “L” Series No Diamonds

There will also be a no diamond model, with similar design, but no opening between the 2 cases.  These will be at a much lower price point compared to the diamond models.

Citizen Victoria Azarenka Limited Edition

Citizen Victoria Azarenka Limited Edition

Victoria Azareanka will have a limited edition white ladies chronograph with rose gold accents on the case and dial.  The watch will also have white paint on a majority of the case sides.

There are tons of amazing products coming this year from Citizen.  As I mentioned before, this is only a small amount.  Be sure to follow our blog to get more news as it becomes available.

Thanks for reading!

JEANRICHARD – Live From Basel

This year had an entire arsenal of new watches, ranging in a wide variety of color combos, new techniques and impressive, stunning designs.  We are proud to bring you all of the  new models introduced by one of our favorite brands, JEANRICHARD.

JEANRICHARD 1681 DLC 60320-11-652-HB6A

JEANRICHARD 1681 DLC 60320-11-652-HB6A

We’ve seen some intro’s online of some of the new models introduced by the brand.  One of which was their Nocturnal collection.  The 1681 series has an all black sand blasted DLC finish with black matt dial, and features their in-house manufactured JR1000 movement.

JEANRICHARD 1681 DLC 60320-11-851-HB6A

JEANRICHARD 1681 DLC 60320-11-851-HB6A

Very similar to the all black version, JR also introduced a beige grained dial variation, adding legibility to the line up.

JEANRICHARD 1681 Brown PVD 60320-11-653-HB6A

JEANRICHARD 1681 Brown PVD 60320-11-653-HB6A

Also added to the 1681 lineup is a new take of PVD coating in brown.  The sandblasted finish looks very impressive in person, and will actually patina over time.

JEANRICHARD 1681 Brown PVD 60320-11-852-FKBA

JEANRICHARD 1681 Brown PVD 60320-11-852-FKBA

Basically, over time, the finish of the PVD color will start to slightly change color over time, giving even more character to an already gorgeous piece.  This patina is something we have not seen in a coating finish before.  Pretty incredible stuff by our friends at JEANRICHARD.

JEANRICHARD 1681 Blue Lacquer 18k Gold 60330-52-401-BB40-1

JEANRICHARD 1681 Blue Lacquer 18k Gold 60330-52-401-BB40-1

The 1681 series has also introduced 2 new blue lacquer dials as seen before in there Terrascope series.  The first model is pictured in in an 18k pink gold and features there JR1090 movement, with small seconds at 9:00.  This model will come on a dark blue alligator strap.

JEANRICHARD 1681 Blue Lacquer Steel

JEANRICHARD 1681 Blue Lacquer Steel

The stainless steel variant with blue lacquer contains their JR1000 movement with central seconds and arabic numerals.  The highly polished case with vibrant blue calfskin strap are another great addition to the series.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand White 60660-21G751-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand White 60660-21G751-FK6A

As a whole new variation of the Aeroscope series, the 3 handed Aeroscopes will come in a nice variety of matt colors including, white, black, grey, blue and green.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Black 60660-21G651-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Black 60660-21G651-FK6A

All the cases on the 3 hand Aeroscopes will come in a sandblasted finish with 60 minute bezel.  This is a new take on the finish, as previous Aeroscope chrono’s had satin and high polish finish.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Grey 60660-21G251-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Grey 60660-21G251-FK6A

Another interesting attribute of the line up is the numerals/indexes used in the series.  They are actually 3D printed out of luminous material, making the numerals glow not only on the top, but also on the sides.  A new and unique feature by JR.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Green 60660-21BA51-FK6A-1

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Green 60660-21BA51-FK6A-1

The matt colored dials are outstanding looking in person.  The military green especially.  These are not the typical vibrant colors you typically see from the brand.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Blue 60660-21B451-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope 3 Hand Blue 60660-21B451-FK6A

The dark navy blue dial is also very impressive. The 44mm cases on both the blue and green are finished in a sandblasted DLC finish, giving even more variety to the line up.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21L752-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21L752-FK6A

Also newly added to the Aeroscope series is a sandblasted set of chronographs.  The case design is still the same and also still uses grade 5 titanium, but the new finish makes it clear visually that these models are indeed titanium.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21L654-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21L654-FK6A

The bezel on these new Aeroscopes now feature a tachymeter instead of a 60 minute counter.  Very appropriate for a chrono, and also contributes a lot to the look.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21L252-FK6A-1

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21L252-FK6A-1

This new series also has a new dial design.  Instead of using the vertical satin finish, they will all have a very cool honeycomb textured dial.  It’s not subtle, easily being seen at first glance, and looks incredible in person.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21M652-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Honeycomb 60650-21M652-FK6A

There will as be a sandblasted DLC variation in the series.  Only the black honeycomb dial will come in the DLC case.  The tachymeter and numerals will be highlighted in white, and the red second hand gives that little bit of extra character.

JEANRICHARD Aquascope White Matt Dial Blue Bezel 60400-11D705-FK4A

JEANRICHARD Aquascope White Matt Dial Blue Bezel 60400-11D705-FK4A

The Aquascope series added a few new models, and one of the favorites in the JR booth was the new blue bezel with white matt dial.  The indexes are slightly different, being attached to the chapter ring instead of the dial, making them float above the dial.  Very impressive.

JEANRICHARD Aquascope "Hokusai" Grey 60400-11B402-FK4A-1

JEANRICHARD Aquascope “Hokusai” Grey 60400-11B402-FK4A-1

The pre-Basel launch of the “Hokusai” series was incredibly well received even before landing here in Basel.  The series features beautifully embossed dials with the artists “Great Wave of Kanangawa” texture.  1st in the series is the grey dial, which is far more impressive in person as compared to the pictures online.  All of these models will be very limited, and the grey dial in particular will be exclusive to AZ Fine Time in the USA.

JEANRICHARD Aquascope "Hokusai" Blue 60400-11B402-FK4A-1

JEANRICHARD Aquascope “Hokusai” Blue 60400-11B402-FK4A-1

One of my personal favorites is the blue variation.  I’ve always loved the standard Aquascope, blue dial, and this model just bumped that love up one more level.  Seeing as these pieces are made to celebrate 150 years of Swiss – Japanese relations, I felt it was only appropriate to add one to my collection.  This blue “Hokusai” is inbound and soon to be on my wrist.

JEANRICHARD Aquascope "Hokusai" Black Blue 60400-11-G606-FK6A-1

JEANRICHARD Aquascope “Hokusai” Black Blue 60400-11-G606-FK6A-1

There were also 2 surprise models in the “Hokusai” series.  The 1st is black dialed, PVD coated variant, with cool blue accents.

JEANRICHARD Aquascope "Hokusai" Black Red 60400-11G608-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Aquascope “Hokusai” Black Red 60400-11G608-FK6A

The second model is virtually the same, but using luminous red accents for the indexes and hands.  Both pieces are stunning in person.

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Bronze Dial 60500-11-20D-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Bronze Dial 60500-11-20D-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Bronze Dial 60500-11-602-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Bronze Dial 60500-11-602-FK6A

The Terrascope series had a whole lot of new models added to the line.  Two of the models have a very unique bronze dial, that has a scratched up texture to it.  These are both very impressive in person.  One of which is all steel finish and comes on a matching brown pin ostrich strap giving a more dressy look.  The other comes on rubber strap with PVD coated inner case, giving a little more sportiness.  Both look outstanding.

JEANRICHARD Terrascope 60500-11-20D-FK6A

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Grey Matt Dial DLC Pink Gold 60500-56-207-BB60

There are quite a few black toned models in the assortment of new Terrascope’s.  The color combos are excellent, varying DLC with combo’s of gold tone on the dial or bezel, or case sides.  Basically, you have a ton of new, ultra-cool models can touch on any style.

A new art series was also debuted with very colorful, unique paint splash designs on the dial and strap.  There is one model in the line up that does not have color, but white paint splashes.

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Art series Colors Aluminum Titanium 60500-10-702-FK4A

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Art series Colors Aluminum Titanium 60500-10-702-FK4A

Probably one of the most unique and colorful JR’s is the new Terrascope that has a specially treated aluminum case.  A green bezel, orange inner case and blue case side inserts make for something we have not seen before.  The white matt dial has blue indexes with orange luminous material at the tips and on the hands.  The case back on this piece is the only part not treated aluminum, but titanium, ,keeping the weight extremely light.

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Red Arsenal

JEANRICHARD Aeroscope Red Arsenal

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Silver Arsenal

JEANRICHARD Terrascope Silver Arsenal

In collaboration with their new partner Arsenal Soccer Club, JEANRICHD has launched two new models with the team.  There will be a DLC coated Aeroscope chronograph with red honeycomb dial, and red carbon composite bumpers around the pushers.  The continuos running second hand sub-dial has the Arsenal cannon logo for the hand.  The Terrascope is slightly more subdued, with vertical satin silver dial, black chapter ring, and red luminous material at the tip of the index and for the hands.  The Arsenal cannon logo is located right above the 6:00.

Tons of great new things from JEANRICHARD this year, very exciting and most all of these products should be out by June!

Thanks for reading!

Seiko – Live From Baselworld 2014 -Part 1

AZ Fine Time is proud to bring you the first live look from Seiko’s booth here at Baselworld 2014!!   There are some great anniversaries for Seiko this year, which leads to a ton of great new items releasing in the near future.  Here’s a taste of what you will see delivering to our store over the next several months…

Baselworld

As a part of the Grand Seiko Historical Collection, Seiko commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the 2nd Grand Seiko released, the Self-Dater from 1964.  The collection will consist of 3 40mm Spring Drive models, the silver dialed SBGA103, the blue dialed SBGA105, and the champagne dialed with platinum case SBGA107.  All 3 of these models will utilize the 9R15 Spring Drive movement the US market saw for the 1st time last year in the 18k gold Snowflake models.  This movement contains a specially selected quartz crystal giving a higher accuracy rating of +/-10 seconds a month as compared to the 9R65’s +/-15 seconds a month.  The steel bracelet versions will retail for roughly $6,500 and be limited to 500 pieces for the world, while the platinum piece will retail for roughly $34,500, with only 30 pieces produced total.

As a part of the same collection, Seiko will have 2 new Grand Seiko Quartz models to pay tribute to the GS Self-Dater.  The silver dialed SBGV009 and black dialed SBGV011 will have 37mm stainless steel cases with black crocodile leather straps.  Each contains the 9F82 quartz caliber with specially selected quartz crystal giving a +/- 5 second a year accuracy rating.  The SBGV009 will be limited to 1,200 pieces for the world, while the SBGV011 will only have 900 pieces.  The estimated retail is roughly $4,000.  The fact that the GS Self-Dater was made in Seiko’s Suwa Seikosha factory (now Seiko Epson) makes these pieces even more special as this is now where they make their Spring Drive and Quartz movements for GS.  Daini Seikosha (now SII) did not start making GS until 1967 with the 44GS we saw reprised last year.

Another anniversary this year is the 5 year of the 9S85 Hi-Beat caliber.  In light of this, Seiko not only has a limited edition model (or 2), but has introduced a whole new feature and caliber to the Hi-Beat line up.  The 9S86 movement will feature a GMT with independent moving hour hand and be expressed in 2 regular production models, the white dialed with blue GMT hand SBGJ001 and the black dialed with red GMT hand SBGJ003.  The limited edition variation is labeled as SBGJ005 and have a green dial with gold GMT hand.  All pieces will have the same Hi-Beat case that is 40mm, and the LE pieces will be limited to 600 made for the world with titanium and tungsten rotor in gold tone.  All dials are textured, and exquisite in person.  Prices are estimated to range from $7,000-$8,000.  There are also 3 18k Hi-Beat GMT Special’s on the horizon, not on display, but they are coming.
