Orient Pro Saturation Diver SEL02003W And SEL02003H

Recently, Orient announced 3 new variations of Pro Saturation Diver.  There was a black dial that looks almost identical to the CFD0C001B, and there are 2 new colors, red and white.  Today we will be featuring the 2 new colors, to show how cool these pieces really look.  While the camera just can’t do them justice, we certainly try…

While these new models are essentially the same as CFD0C001B (which we already reviewed HERE), there is only one difference I had noticed to really talk about.  On Orient Japan, they do state that it is a ceramic coating utilized on the bezel (which I did not see on the old version).  While I do not have exact info on durability, I am sure that this helps improve the scratch resistance as compared to the older model.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver SEL02003H

Orient Pro Saturation Diver SEL02003W

I think these colors are a perfect fit for the new Pro Saturation Divers SEL02003W and SEL02003H.  The red is vibrant, but not overbearing.  The white is almost a slightly off white or cream color.  While it is not pure bright white, I think it is a perfect shade and is very attractive.  The attribute I love about both models is the black chapter ring.  As small as it is, I think it adds much to the watch that would be lost if it wasn’t there.  The dial is very deep, and I think the black chapter ring makes that even more clear in these pieces.

We’re loving the Orient collection here at AZFT.  This is just another example of their tremendous quality for the money.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 1-800-486-3996.

Orient Star Skeleton DX00001W and DX00002W

Orient Star Skeleton DX00001W

Orient Star Skeleton DX00001W

Recently, Orient USA informed us of a new beautiful series of timepieces on the horizon.  Well, the day is here and we couldn’t be more excited.  The two watches we were waiting for have delivered and they are far more beautiful than we could have imagined.  Today, we introduce the brand new Orient Star Skeleton DX00001W and DX00002W, an exclusive in the US at Arizona Fine Time.

Orient Star Skeleton DX00001W

Orient Star Skeleton DX00002W

These new skeletonized models of Orient Star utilize the Orient Caliber 48E50 and are manual winding with an impressive 50 hour power reserve.  The movement has 23 jewels, 21,600 bph, hack, and displays for both small seconds and power reserve.  Not only does this movement have great complications and features, but it is also incredible to look at!  The 48E50 caliber is decorated in perlage on the front and uses a dual layer structure to expose more of their beautiful work.  Through the case back, you will see that Orient changed decoration and went with striping all throughout.  While other Orient watches have some nice decoration, this by far is a top end finish.  It could easily rival many fine Swiss pieces and needless to say, we were more than impressed with the meticulous craftsmanship.

The overall case construction is very elegant and superbly finished.  At 40mm wide and only 9.2mm thick, it is very classy but with enough uniqueness that it stands out on the wrist.  The slim case design along with the high polish finish makes for a great dress piece, easily fitting under a cuff.

The intricate work of the dial adds to  the true beauty to these pieces.  The blued hands contribute an abundance of character.  I personally feel that the skeleton look is something most collectors would love to have in their collection.  There is always fascination with the movement and seeing their operations.  Having the opportunity to see a watches movement simply by looking at your wrist, is a tremendous value in itself.  To me, the sight of the balance wheel bouncing back and forth shows the life of the watch and the talent it takes to make them.  While I love new technology in watches, I am also a huge fan of tradition.

Orient Star Skeleton DX00001W

Because the watch needs to be manually wound, Orient has implemented a uniquely shaped crown to make for easy winding.  I know on some watches, manually winding can be bothersome, but with this Orient Star, it is easily wound, even while on the wrist.

The case back is something I usually dig too deep into, but I really love the design that Orient went with.  The sharp toothed design pays compliment to the crown, but overall, really has a great look to it.  The movement of course is stunning, but even the case itself has a unique and intriguing design.

The obvious and only difference between the two models would be the bracelet on the DX00001W and the leather strap on DX00002W.  The stainless steel bracelet on the DX00001W is handsomely done.  The 5 piece construction with 2 inner links in high polish gives a nice detail.  The bracelet feels solid and well built.  The clasp is also nicely done with a surprising high polish on the inside.

The leather strap is a black calf with black stitching.  The clasp is high polished and bears the Orient Star logo.  I can certainly say that the strap does make the skeleton more of a dress watch.  The bracelet variation seems more neutral, but in reality, you could pull either for dress or casual.

It is a true honor to have an exclusive on such impressive timepieces.  While the Orient Star Skeleton is not a common price for Orient watches in the US, the quality shines through and expresses great value.  The retail on the DX00001W is $2,530 and the DX00002W $2,330.  However, the DX00001W can be purchased directly through our website for $1,895 HERE or the DX00002W for $1,750 HERE.

Orient M-Force Diver SEL06001H

Orient Watch has tons of amazing products at unbelievable price points.  With so many interesting designs and looks that are completely unique, it could make for a tough choice on which model you like best.  One thing is for sure, if you love diving, or just even a bigger sports watch, you could easily become infatuated with the Orient M-Force Diver SEL06001H.

Orient M-Force Diver SEL06001H

Orient M-Force Diver SEL06001H

The Orient M-Force series is a collection of mechanical watches with a forceful design, hence the name M-Force.  The nickname acquired by this specific series (which comes in 3 colors – black, blue and red) is The Beast, which is true to the name in every sense.  This watch is indeed a beast at 47mm wide and 13.3mm thick.  It’s definitely a large watch but it sits flat on the wrist.  While there is not a lot of curvature to the case, it is impressive how well it wears.  The overall design is really cool too.  Very sharp with lots of block like parts protruding from the case sides,  and bezel. I like the fact that the crown is on the left hand side as to not dig into your wrist since it is so large.

The dial color is one of my favorite attributes to this piece. The dark red hue with a metallic type trait to it looks spectacular, especially with the yellow accents on the hands .  I couldn’t explain why, but the combo just “does it” for me.  This look along with the black bezel and black chapter ring all pull together nicely.  The layout is very legible with large heavy lumed hands, a 40 hour power reserve indicator at the 6 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock (which matches the size of the index near perfect).  All of this is protected by a sapphire crystal to ensure it doesn’t scratch.

The 200m diver is ISO certified for diving, anti-magnetism, and shock resistance, making for an incredibly durable piece.  In fact, the case has a special structure to absorb shock, which I think makes for a very cool special feature.    The movement is Orient’s in house manufactured 40N5A which is made in Japan and has manual winding capability along with a hack feature to ensure accurate setting.  The movement has 22 jewels and a rate of 21,600 bph.  You would think with all these traits, the watch would be well over $1,000 if not $2,000, but far from it.  Retail is only $795, but can be purchased directly through our website for $555.95 HERE.  Orient still impresses me above and beyond with the quality product they make for the money.

Almost forgot to mention….  The lume is close to blinding!  Gotta love that!

Orient Star Automatic Retrograde Day DE00002W

When it comes to huge value in a mechanical watch, there is a brand that comes to mind that is tough to beat.  This brand is Orient and more specifically Orient Star.  Orient has an incredible reputation amongst watch collectors that look for tremendous “bang for the buck”.  In today’s review, we look at the Orient Star Automatic Retrograde Day DE00002W.

Orient Star Automatic Retrograde Day DE00002W

Orient Star Automatic Retrograde Day DE00002W

The DE00002W has a beautifully embossed cream colored dial that indicates time, date, day of the week in retrograde, and power reserve.  There is an abundance of features on this classic looking piece, but it is very clean and legible considering all the complications.  The dial layout is very nice with the 40hr power reserve indicator at the 12 o’clock, the date wheel at 9 o’clock, and the retrograde day at the 6 o’clock.  The cream colored dial gives the piece almost a vintage type look.  I have to say that I was very impressed with the dial’s color and texture, giving it the subtle details that make the piece so intriguing.  The dial is protected by sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.  Very impressive, especially at the price point.

The case and bracelet are stainless steel, with a gorgeous polishing job.  The bezel and inner links of the bracelet are where this polishing really stand out.  This near mirror finish along with the brushed majority of the bracelet and case sides really add a ton of detail to the piece and give it a very high-end and detailed look.  I really love the design of the bracelet.  The thin width links feel solid and sturdy, but look very elegant and unique.  The watches case size is 39.5mm wide, not too large by any means, but adds to the classy feel of the watch.

The movement is Orients in house 40A50, which has 22 jewels and 21,600 bph.  The rotor has the Orient Star logo in gold with striping decoration while the rest of the plates and bridges are decorated with perlage.  This movement, unlike some other Orient base models, does have a hack feature (stopping the second hand when the crown is out) and also has manual wind capability.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Here at AZ Fine Time, we spend a lot of time researching watch brands.  We look for unique and boutique brands, all of which have to be the best quality for the money.  One of the best examples of these traits is Orient Watch Co.  To be honest, we haven’t been dealers for them very long, but we’ve been studying them for years.  For those who don’t know, Orient as a brand is mostly automatic watches, with in-house movements at unheard of price points.  I’m talking automatics that start at less than $200!  It seems unbelievable,  but don’t be fooled by the price point, they actually make great watches with good accuracy and stability.  After years of looking into this brand, the guys at AZFT met with Mark Kim, the US Distributor for Orient, and finally closed the deal.  Needless to say, the brand has taken off ever since.

Today, I’m getting outside of Orients normal price point and aiming high.  The Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B is one of the most expensive models Orient has available in the US (which is still very reasonable), but with very good reason…  It is a truly heavy duty tool dive watch, with tons of great features.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

To start, the build on this beast is massive.  It is about 46mm wide, just under 17mm thick, and weighs in at 230 grams.  It has a large crown at the 4 o’clock position, which keeps it from digging into your wrist.  The watch also is rated to 300m water resistance, but what makes this piece so special is that the case is built and sealed so well, that there is no need for a helium escapement valve.  They use a 5mm thick sapphire crystal to also help make this piece ideal for the pressures involved in diving.  A nice touch is that there is dual anti-reflective coating on the crystal, but not like in most other watches where it is a bluish color, but more of a green tint to it.  It certainly gives it a more unique characteristic.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

The fit and finish of the Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B is also very nicely done.  It is a nice combination of high polish and brushed, adding more detail to the piece.  I always think that this combo helps any watch pop a little more as opposed to being all one style of finish.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

The bezel is very thick and sturdy, which is helpful in the sense that you know it will not move on its own.  Another nice detail they have added is that instead of a solid black bezel, it has more of a gunmetal finish, with white numerals/indexes engraved into it.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

One of everyone’s favorite features  is the ratcheting diver expansion clasp.  When the clasp is open, you can pull back on the fold over lock, and then pull the bracelet out to expand it over an extra inch of length.  This makes for easy quick adjustments to go over a wetsuit, or just to give your wrist a little extra breathing room in the summertime when your wrist swells from the heat.  If that’s not enough, there is also micro adjustment on the other side of the clasp.  You could probably put on another 200 lbs before you’d have to add a link back to the bracelet…  Now that’s what I call convenient!

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

The movement is Orient’s caliber 40N5A.  This is a self-winding  mechanical movement that has manual winding capability, a hackable second hand and a 40 hour power reserve that is indicated on the dial.  The date is also indicated on the dial at the 9 o’clock position.  The hands and indexes are big and legible with heavy lume.  Definitely an easy piece to read at night or, of course, while diving.

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B

Overall the Orient Pro Saturation Diver CFD0C001B is a really heavy duty and solid build watch.  Retail on this model is $2150, but can be purchased directly through our site for $1,500 (with an assortment of free goods) HERE.  Even though it is much more expensive than most Orients, it is easily a value compared to other dive watches even close to the same quality.  There’s a lot of talk about the Seiko Prospex MM300 (which is not available for sale in the US).  This is a bigger & badder piece with more features at over $1000 less!   Be on the look out for more unique Orient here at AZ Fine Time.
